There's something to be said for an artist who can give the dirtiest electronic squelches and squeals a feeling of emotional weight. Dan Friel's tunes are something akin to your toaster trying to sing you a beautiful song while the rest of your kitchen appliances are busy destroying themselves in rhythmic fashion. Everything sounds maxed out like it could explode at any moment, but he sits calmly at the foot of the stage, pedals and wires glowing. Listen, and be overcome by the raw electric power. - LC
