Krill

Unless you've been living under a soundproof rock (or maybe outside of the tri-state) chances are you're pretty familiar with Boston outfit Krill. They've been at it for years, perfecting their own bit of personal, weirdo rock and have made more than a few stops to our humble abode here in Brooklyn.

Unsurprisingly, the guest playlist Krill compiled for us has a strong Northeastern bent (excluding Illinois skald Ezra Furman), and much like the band itself, isn't adverse to letting the weirdness shine through. Avant-punks Cloud Becomes Your Hand & proto-Speedy Ortiz band Quilty make appearances, as well as more than a few members of that illustrious Exploding In Sound crew. The playlist is fairly eclectic and at over an hour should provide you plenty of excellent listening, fit for a Krill. -LC

Katie Holliday

Katie Holliday (nèe McVeay) knows a good band when she hears one. A Brooklyn resident by way of Mississippi, she's one of the women fronting Hear Say Press, whose roster currently reps illustrious Shea faves like Baked & Flagland. And though she may radiate Southern charm, her tastes definitely skew to the grittier side.

The guest playlist of Shea tracks she's compiled for us is full of NYC classics by the likes of The Beets, Le Rug, & our own So So Glos. The playlist is one of our longest yet and with over an hour and a half of tunes should provide you with plenty of good listening - it was put together by one of the best in the biz after all.

ben-seretan

Ben Seretan

Ben Seretan operates in kind of a weird space. He's somewhat of a literally bearded swami. Looking at the "special services" he offers on his website, including such luxuries as one-on-one concerts and guided meditation sessions, he'd seem more like a snake oil salesman if his product wasn't so damn good.

That product being his music of course. Sometimes it's a shredfest, sometimes contemplative, and always straight from the heart - a lot like this list Ben's compiled for us from our archives.

The list includes some seriously deep cuts and encompasses a couple bands' entire sets. It's not for the faint of heart but maybe consider it a bit of guided mediation offered on the house from the man himself.

eula

Alyse Lamb

In a scene that seems to always be changing there's something of a constant to be found in EULA. Since their formation nearly nine years ago the band has played over 600 shows with thousands of bands in hundreds of venues. It's no surprise that front-woman Alyse Lamb has come out on the other side as an expert in live music.

We've been lucky to have her use that expertise to compile an excellent guest list of tracks from our archives. Her list is full of the choice cuts you'd expect from someone with a serious penchant for noise & no-wave, but also expect some more esoteric gems to pop up during your listen.

EULA has just released a new track today, and if you've been so unfortunate to miss EULA over the years you'll have another chance on the 29th of this month when they play Shea with Drenge & Bueno.
